Work in Progress : FORD SIERRA COSWORTH rs500 3D Model

Instantly regocnisable with its massive whale tail spoiler the Ford Sierra Cosworth took as a base the standard family saloon (Sierra), from which Ford Motorsport with the help of Cosworth Engineering, developed a true giant killer in Group A racing in Europe. It transformed the mild Sierra into a genuine supercar. With over 200 BHP in standard trim it was twice as powerful as any other Sierra - but with tuning the power outputs could rise to close to 600 BHP. It has become a true classic and still much sought after to this day.

The 3D model was created as the RS500 variant, a specially developed evolution of the standard Ford Sierra Cosworth to be even more competitive in Motorsport. The evolution model had many aerodynamic improvements (Additional low level spoiler, lip on whale tail) and improved breathing and cooling in the revised front bumper (with deleted driving lamps). The main variant modelled was the iconic black Texaco / Eggenberger works racers.

The following images show the development of the Ford Sierra Cosworth RS500 model. Starting with creating a 3D spline cage to use as a guide, a body was created using polygons and refined using reference photos and feedback from owners.
